Adrien Blomme
Adrien Blomme, born in Falisolle on 1 July 1878 and died in Brussels on 14 May 1940, was a polytechnic engineer who became an architect in Brussels. He designed the Hôtel Wielemans on Rue Defacqz in Brussels (around 1924-1927), inspired by Art Deco and Hispano-Moorish styles and listed in 1994. For the same family he built the new brew house of the Wielemans-Ceuppens brewery in Forest (1930-1931), now the WIELS art centre. He also designed the Métropole cinema on Rue Neuve (1930-1932), of which only the façade survives. In Limburg he laid out the garden city of Winterslag in Genk, in an English cottage style.
