Dendermonde
Dendermonde, Lebbeke and Buggenhout — from Kerkstraat to Maalderijstraat
From Dendermonde to Buggenhout via Lebbeke, this route brings together nine Art Deco buildings from 1926 to 1936. It starts at the former Saint Blaise hospital by Fernand de Ruddere and Jean-Norbert Cloquet (1926), built on the site of the almshouse destroyed by fire in 1914, then reaches, in Sint-Gillis, Jozef Van Bogaertstraat, with the house of the merchant Jozef Octaaf De Lathouwer-Belon (1932) and a group of three houses of 1936. It then passes the war memorial by the engineer Jules Tytgat, inaugurated in 1931 and listed since 2002, and the shop-house of the blacksmith Jozef Beckers-Wils (1934). In Lebbeke, it passes a villa of 1931 that originally leaned against a building of the former sawmill, then, on Stationsstraat, a shop-house of 1931, built at the same time as four others, and a house of 1934-1935 with a grey cement façade. It ends in Buggenhout at a group of four terraced houses of 1936.
