Kortrijk
Kortrijk — from President Rooseveltplein to Minister Liebaertlaan
In Kortrijk, this route brings together twelve Art Deco buildings from 1926 to 1939. It starts at P. Ongenae’s White Residence (1938-1939), said to be the city’s first apartment building, and a 1929 house by Carlos Beyaert, from Izegem, then follows Graaf de Smet de Naeyerlaan, with two houses by Charles Debels (1926 and 1927) and the Villa Pszczotko (1933). Via Edgar Tinellaan (A. Caesens, 1936), it reaches Kuurnsesteenweg, where Werner Van Spranghe designed two mirror-image houses for himself in 1933 and, in 1934, a house whose bow window takes in a garage. On Minister Liebaertlaan it passes the offices and director’s house built in 1928 by Antoine Van Houtte for the Steverlynck firm (BST), a protected monument since 2003, then a house by J. Lerrie (1929) and another by Werner Van Spranghe (1932), before ending on Vaartstraat at a house by Gustaaf Albers (1932).
