The previous commercial building was destroyed by bombing during the First World War. Subject to a street-alignment order, it was rebuilt between 1920 and 1924 by Louis Peulabeuf's cement and reinforced-concrete firm to plans by the Arras architect René Trubert; it then housed a hardware shop. The bare concrete facade has two perfectly symmetrical bays whose windows narrow from floor to floor. The ribbed concrete forms horizontal ripples on the spandrels and vertical bands on the piers, a decoration typical of the Art Deco style that characterises the facade.
