Maison de rapport Art déco, avenue de Busleyden 48

Art Deco apartment house designed by the architect Jos. Verstraeten in 1937. The three-storey elevation under a flat roof combines yellow and red brick with emphasised horizontal joints, rendered areas and blue stone. The first two levels are marked by a yellow-brick projection with a curved corner, housing the door beneath a flat concrete canopy carried on a quarter colonnette and, above, a ribbon window with a curved end. Topped by a flat concrete cornice, the projection carries a terrace with a parapet; the door with a geometric grille is original. The building is recorded in the inventory of architectural heritage.
