Art Deco house that closes an ensemble of six single-family houses built at the same time at nos. 1 to 11 Groenstraat; the row, which combines influences of Art Deco and modernism, was designed in 1933 by the architect Raymond Vankeerberghen for Messrs Goemans and Stroobants (building permit of 7 February 1933). Of three storeys and two bays under a red-tiled gabled roof, it is built in narrow dark brown brick with recessed 'Dudok' joints, on a bluestone plinth bearing the architect's signature, with decorative brickwork on the two upper storeys. Unlike the other houses, the ground floor is also emphasised: the door opens within an entrance porch with a mitre-shaped opening and bevelled and rounded side walls, set in a rendered section of wall. The right-hand bay has a two-sided bay window with a narrow horizontal fanlight on the first floor and a two-sided balcony on the second; the balcony balustrade, originally of horizontal concrete rails as still seen at nos. 1 and 9, the door, the joinery and the cornices have been renewed. The house is recorded in the Flemish architectural heritage inventory.
