Art Deco town house with balconies spanning the full width of the façade, part of an ensemble of six single-family houses built at the same time at nos. 1 to 11 Groenstraat; the row, which combines influences of Art Deco and modernism, was designed in 1933 by the architect Raymond Vankeerberghen for Messrs Goemans and Stroobants (building permit of 7 February 1933). Like its neighbours it has three storeys and two bays under a red-tiled gabled roof; its façade combines dark brown flat brick with recessed 'Dudok' joints and black glazed tiles on the plinth. The upper floors are dominated by two heavy full-width balconies in artificial stone, strictly geometric in design with horizontal rails, each closed in the door bay by a narrow two-sided bay window. The white-painted timber joinery, with geometric stained glass on the ground floor and windows with horizontal glazing bars on the upper floors, and the timber front door with fanlight and ironwork survive intact. The house is recorded in the Flemish architectural heritage inventory.
