The previous building, built around 1750, was destroyed by bombing during the First World War. A reconstruction project was submitted in January 1923 and the building, subject to the street-alignment plan, was rebuilt between 1923 and 1926. The works were carried out by the Arras contractor Oscar Vandecasteele, whose signature appears on the band course, under the direction of the architect Eugène Arend. Built of concrete and brick, this shop-house is in the Art Deco style: canted oriel and dormer, flat stylised flowers, chevrons, zigzag lines, ribbons and waves.
