Partly destroyed during the First World War, the building was the subject in 1923 of a first, classical reconstruction project drawn up by the architect Georges Guenot, which was not carried out. A second project materialised in 1931 and led to the construction of the present building in a modern style. Built of white-painted concrete, with a rounded corner onto rue du Vert-Baudet, it has three storeys. According to the Inventory, its sober, pared-down style belongs to a strand of Art Deco close to the International Style, with a flat roof, fluted pilasters with geometric capitals and a frieze of square motifs.
