Two mirror-image twin houses known as "L'Oiseau Bleu", a reference to Maurice Maeterlinck's 1908 play, designed by the Ghent architect Geo Henderick under a building application of 1930 for Alexander Van Heuverswijn. The Flemish inventory sees a symbolist, anecdotal idiom close to the Amsterdam School: yellow-brick base, rendered oriels painted blue beneath pointed gables.
Translated from the French original.
