Geo Henderick
Geo Henderick, born in Sint-Amandsberg on 19 June 1879 and died in Ghent on 17 May 1957, was a Ghent architect who emerged from Art Nouveau. In 1913 he built the machinery and electricity hall for the Ghent World's Fair. In the 1920s his style blended Art Nouveau, Art Deco and the Amsterdam School. In Ghent he designed the Carpentier complex (1928), considered his most successful work, and the Villa Tyltyl-Mytyl (1929), whose decoration refers to Maeterlinck's The Blue Bird. He also designed Ghent cinemas (Patria 1928, Capitole 1932, Rex 1933) and in 1938 published utopian drawings, La merveilleuse architecture.
