Apartment building of Art Deco inspiration designed in 1931 by and for the architect A. Varlet, on the corner of Avenue des Scarabées. The five-storey elevation beneath an attic balustrade plays on strong recesses and projections: central projecting bays on the Roosevelt side and a corner bay in the form of a polygonal turret. The upper floors combine brick and white imitation stone, and quoined corners add to the monumentality of the whole. Inside, the original Schindler lift in an open shaft survives.
