Le Quesnoy - Maubeuge - Vervins

From Le Quesnoy to Vervins, via Aulnoye-Aymeries and Maubeuge

From Le Quesnoy to Vervins, this route brings together seven buildings built from 1925 to 1934. In Le Quesnoy, the former Palavicini barracks were converted from 1925 to 1928 into an Italian-style theatre; in Aulnoye-Aymeries, the town hall by Joseph Ségers and Albert Rouzé, whose plans date from 1927, stands near Marcel Melon’s house, built in 1931 for the director of the Louvroil-Recquignies tube works. In Maubeuge stand the Salle Sthrau, a function hall completed in 1927 behind the façade of the former Jesuit chapel, and Adolphe Danis’s office building for the Société Eau et Force (1927-1934), on Route d’Avesnes. The route ends in Vervins, at two houses by the municipal architect Charles Jamin: his own, of 1932-1933, and the Villa Richet, built in 1932.
