From Menen to Gullegem — Menen, Wevelgem, Lauwe and Marke
Between Menen, Wevelgem and Kortrijk, this route links eleven Art Deco buildings from 1923 to 1939. In Menen, it starts at the villa designed by E. Vanriet (1935), with an oriel clad in green glazed tiles, and a house whose colourfully faced façade is the work of Gaston Boghemans (1929). In Wevelgem, the Jacqueline and Bianca houses by G. Knockaert (1935) precede a house by the local architect Michel Delrue (1936). In Lauwe, a house of 1937 with a porch with rounded corners and a house by C. Wyseur (1933), with a corner oriel outlined in black terrazzo, lead to Marke, where a house with a shop with stepped gables was built in 1939 to plans by A. Vandenweghe. The route then passes the former meeting centre with chapel of the Wevelgem air base, by Carlos Beyaert (1928), protected since 2005, and ends in Gullegem at a house of 1937, the villa designed by Remi Lemahieu (1933) and the house he designed in 1923 for the sacristan A. Vuylsteke.
