Brabant wallon
Walloon Brabant — from Wauthier-Braine to Jandrain-Jandrenouille
From Wauthier-Braine to Jandrain-Jandrenouille, this route brings together ten works in Walloon Brabant marked by Art Deco and completed between 1926 and 1949. It starts at the 1930 extension of the Saint-Pierre school in Wauthier-Braine, then reaches Braine-l’Alleud, where the architect Armand Castiaux designed two villas originally clad in cimorné, among them the “show house” of Pierre Petroons, the inventor of this render (1935). In Nivelles, it passes the teacher-training college of 1927, probably by Ernest Tondeur, and Edgard Ypersier’s corner building on Avenue Général Jacques (1935). It then reaches the water tower of Sart-Dames-Avelines (1936), the former offices of the Henricot works in Court-Saint-Étienne (1926), Nestor Grosjean’s villa “Les Rosiers” in Mont-Saint-Guibert (1938) and Alexis Dumont’s provincial teacher-training college in Jodoigne, built between 1917 and 1926. It ends at the monument to the French Cavalry in Jandrain-Jandrenouille, erected in 1949.
