Maisons plurifamiliales Art déco, Begonialei 20-22 — Anvers

Pair of semi-detached, mirrored multi-family houses in Art Deco style, built in 1923 in Merksem for sale by the Merksem Charity Office; as the original plan has not survived, the designer is unknown. The two-bay, three-storey cornice façades in brick on a bluestone plinth stand out for their careful decorative brickwork, white stone or imitation-stone accents and a two-storey bay window on stylised volute brackets. The original joinery and the wrought-iron front-garden railings survive. The two houses are recorded in the Flemish architectural heritage inventory.
