Semi-detached town house in a sober Art Deco style, built in 1933 for the engineer Alfons Maes to a 1932 design by the architect Eduard De Winter (inscription on the ground floor). Together with nos. 2, 4 and 8 it forms a visual group of four town houses in the Exhibition district. The façades in brown-red hand-moulded brick on a high bluestone plinth, under a slate-clad pseudo-mansard, are enlivened by white stone; their Art Deco character comes from the parapets decorated with spiral scrollwork and from the wrought-iron grilles of the windows, door and side entrance. Many original interior features survive, including stucco ceilings and a red marble chimneypiece.
