Town house in the Art Deco style, designed in 1931 by the engineer of the technical department of the Belgische Boerenbond, whose signature is hard to read, for Gérard Ariën, appointed in 1928 director of the Merksem compound-feed division; the enclosure was designed by Karel Dandois, a draughtsman based in Merksem who specialised in furniture and decoration. Of two unequal bays and two storeys under a slate pseudo-mansard, it has a red-brick façade enlivened by white-painted bands, with stepped and shouldered surrounds. The wide bay carries a three-sided bay window on a stepped base, topped by a balcony with a wrought-iron balustrade with lozenge, zigzag, wave and scroll motifs, and the dormer is capped by a trapezoidal pediment. The front garden keeps its enclosure, with a cast-iron Art Deco gate and railing with spirals in pierced triangles, and its 1931 tiled path; the ground-floor joinery and geometric stained glass are well preserved. The house is recorded in the Flemish architectural heritage inventory.
