Three Art Deco social housing blocks designed in 1922 by the architect Joseph Van Neck for the Société coopérative saint-gilloise de constructions d’habitations à bon marché. The elevations of six storeys and five bays, nos. 117 and 121 identical and symmetrically flanking no. 119, are characterised by an interplay of projecting volumes: a triangular oriel on the axis, trapezoidal oriels and balconies with pierced brick parapets. Red and yellow brick, bluestone, render and exposed-aggregate concrete form a refined interplay of materials beneath widely projecting cornices. The buildings were renovated in 1982 and again in 1997, when flats were created in the roof space.
