Two linked apartment buildings, one with a shop, in a restrained Art Deco style on the corner of Frans Nagelsplein and August Van Daelstraat in Wilrijk, built for the Société Industrielle et Commerciale d'Anvers-Wilryck to a design by the architect Joseph Merckx (1925). The complex is representative of the architect's inter-war phase, when he discreetly mixed Beaux-Arts and Art Deco features. The façades of three and two bays, on three storeys under a flat roof, are of light red brick, with rendered horizontal bands painted white, windows between lesenes and moulded panels below the openings. On the canted corner, a statue of the Virgin and Child stands above a stepped geometric relief bearing the inscription AVE MARIA; the joinery has been entirely renewed.
