Apartment building with shops, a diamond-cutting works and offices in the rear wing, built around 1928 for M. Mendelson, who also owned the similar building at no. 62; in 1928 the architect Albert Campioni drew up the file for the demolition of houses and the construction of a shop with "appartementswoning" and a rear warehouse, in which a 1929 environmental permit records the installation of a diamond-cutting works with 68 machines. The inventory sees it as a typical example of the complexes built between the wars for the district's flourishing diamond industry. The complex comprises a four-storey front building under a mansard roof and a large low rear building with a flat roof filling the whole plot. The street façade, in the Art Deco style, has three bays: on the ground floor, two shops with display windows with rounded corners flank the central entrance, which also gives access to the workshops and offices, and above the string course a natural-stone cornice façade is crowned in the centre by a red-brick gable with stone ornament and a stone frame for the triple window. Pilasters with decorated capitals separate the bays, pierced by wide rectangular windows with breastworks carrying an Art Deco motif; the first-floor window frames survive, while the glazing-barred transoms of the shop windows have been replaced. The building is recorded in the Flemish architectural heritage inventory.
