The house that stood on the plot was completely destroyed during the First World War. A first reconstruction project, submitted in 1925 and planned in a Flemish regionalist style with a stepped gable on the corner, was not pursued after the owner's death. A second project, by the architects Joseph Molinié, Charles Nicod and Albert Pouthier, whose office was in Paris, was submitted in 1932 and led to the construction of the present building in a modern style. With a canted corner on the rue du Général-Barbot, it combines a concrete structure, brick facing and stone, which forms the two oriels and the quoins; the railings feature simple spirals and the gable with broad flat steps resembles a modern reinterpretation of the Flemish regionalist gable. According to the French heritage inventory, this 1930s building reflects a late Art Deco in which the pared-down style merges with modernism while retaining geometric forms such as the curved corner oriel and the solid, rounded window sills.
