Habitation, rue du Midi 27 — Mouscron

Set in the bend of the street, this house was built in 1934 to plans by the architect J. Werbrouck; it hovers between Art Deco and Dutch modernism. Its cubic volume under a mansard roof is accompanied by a low wing with a basement garage. The decorative corner brickwork, the cement render outlining the openings and their mouldings reflect the Art Deco spirit. The window frames and joinery are original, notably the garage door and the triple window with geometric stained glass lighting the stairwell.
