A group of twelve Art Deco social housing blocks designed in 1921 for the Foyer Laekenois by Jean-Baptiste Dewin, Joseph Diongre and Adolphe Puissant, each the author of one of three building types placed alternately. Unity comes from orange brick enhanced with render, imitation stone and stone; Dewin’s entrances are crowned by two seated monkeys carved in the round, Diongre’s are sheltered by a canopy on Japanese-inspired brackets, and Puissant enlivens his façades with stepped brick friezes. The group was renovated in 1980-1982 by Ph. Samyn and M. Vanden Bossche.
