Villa Art déco, Bellestraat 17 — Saint-Nicolas

Two-storey Art Deco villa built in 1929 to designs by the architect Ferdinand Van Goethem for F. Dierickx, a wholesaler in fashion clothing. Built in brick over a cellar, it uses natural stone on the ground floor and for the surrounds of the rectangular upper windows. A strongly projecting bay and a wide rounded corner, carrying a curved balcony supported by two columns, enliven the façade, which ends in a cement-rendered frieze with foliage. It is recorded in the Flemish architectural heritage inventory.
