Maison Art déco, Aalststraat 102 — Audenarde

House in the Art Deco style built by the plasterer R. Messiaen to a design of 1929, fronted by a small walled garden with a paved path and ornamental vases. Of three storeys under a flat roof, it has straight bay-window bays over two storeys. The rendered façades are embellished with decorative pebble friezes and rendered bands with flower garlands; inside, the newel post and banister and the chimneypieces carry sculpted decoration in imitation stone. At the rear, a small works building in a similar style, bearing the inscription 'Villa Orfa', was reportedly built as a dwelling. The house is recorded in the Flemish architectural heritage inventory.
