These two town houses were designed in 1929 as an Art Deco ensemble by the Ghent architect Emile De Weerdt for the industrialist Georges Vercoutere. Three storeys high under flat roofs, they were given different façade divisions, but continuous horizontal elements and identical materials — red brick with bands of white glazed brick on a blue-stone plinth — ensure their unity. Each has a rendered convex bay window. The ensemble is recorded in the Flemish architectural heritage inventory.
