The Majestic occupies a neoclassical building designed by Leon De Keyser, first the Théâtre Pathé and renamed Cinéma Majestic around 1920. Its present Art Deco façade was designed in 1937 by the Antwerp architect Johannes Hendrik van den Broeck: a fully glazed central projection opens onto the lobby beneath an imposing illuminated, streamlined concrete canopy. The cinema closed in 1982; an attempt to reopen it failed and the operator went bankrupt in 1985.
