Department store built in the Art Deco style in 1928-1930 to plans by the Parisian architect G.J. Maugue, at the corner of boulevard du Jardin Botanique and rue des Cendres, replacing a store of the same name dating from 1845. This commercial complex with a rounded corner, five storeys plus an attic level, is built of reinforced concrete and had three levels of sales floors around a large central space under a lantern. The facade, first clad in marble and then in Savonnières stone in 1941, is punctuated by narrow trapezoidal oriels and wide windows with metal frames.
