Interwar house in a 'playful' Art Deco style, built in 1926 for the businessman De Jonghe-Schockaert to a design by Oscar Vandenhoeck, set in a hedged and wooded garden of the same period, entered through a round-arched gateway of rendered and painted concrete that belongs to the overall design. Of two storeys under a tiled half-hipped roof, it combines a ground floor of unpainted brick with a rendered and painted upper floor and bay windows; the projecting central bay of the façade forms the entrance, topped by a small brick balcony. The symmetrically placed openings have stepped surrounds and bevelled or rounded corners; the timber joinery with glazing bars and the Art Deco stained glass survive. The interior retains many original features (doors, windows, floors, stairs, chimneypieces, a roof lantern), and the 24-are garden keeps plantings typical of the interwar period. The house is recorded in the Flemish architectural heritage inventory.
