Maison Tonneau

Apartment building constructed in 1929 by Joseph André at 45 boulevard Audent in Charleroi, for a Mr Tonneau. Built of brick and concrete, its modernist facade is animated by interplay of brickwork, numerous projections and varied upper-floor windows, most of which retain their original frames. The ground floor, originally designed as a garage, has been converted into a shop. The architect designed it a year before taking on Charleroi's town hall.
