These buildings belong to a group of large social housing blocks built from 1923 to 1930 for the cooperative society “La Maison liégeoise”, in a district created after the 1905 World's Fair and laid out to plans by the architect Michel around Avenue Reine Élisabeth. Most of these buildings, in a modernist style tinged with Art Deco, are the work of Melchior Jeurgen. The façades in brick, partly cement-rendered, and limestone, sometimes on a sandstone rubble base, assert their monumentality through the emphasis on the bays, with decorative effort concentrated on the corners and entrance bays, beneath low-pitched gable roofs.
