These two buildings facing each other at the corners of Rue de l'Amblève belong to a group of large social housing blocks built from 1923 to 1930 for the cooperative society "La Maison liégeoise", laid out to plans by the architect Michel. The Art Deco no. 42 has a brick facade, partly cemented and painted, on a sandstone rubble plinth, its monumentality emphasised by the accentuated bays. The modernist no. 43, in brick and limestone, stresses horizontality with sills extended into continuous bands and concentrates its decoration on the entrance bays.
