The former Steffens paper mill, since converted into a home and painter's studio, has an Art Deco facade designed in 1929 by the architects Gilson Frères. Treated like a grid, it plays on the contrast between bricks laid horizontally and vertically, concrete and bluestone, with a taller central section, a carriage entrance and a doorway under a canopy; the original joinery and ironwork survive. Inside, the machine hall of three aisles and seven bays is remarkable for its concrete frame and its central space under a glazed roof.
