The Institut Saint-Ferdinand is a school complex of the Brothers of the Christian Schools, present in Jemappes since 1863; the present complex was founded by Count Charles-Ferdinand de Meeûs. Besides the street building in yellow brick on a high limestone base, it comprises three classroom wings enclosing a courtyard on three sides, the fourth being occupied by a lower, later building. Built in stages, the three wings bear the dates 1911, 1931 and 1937. Most of them, of three or four storeys, are eclectic in spirit; the most recent, of 1937, is in an Art Deco style tinged with modernism. The complex is recorded in the Walloon heritage inventory.
