Jules Ghobert
Jules Ghobert, born in Wéris in 1881 and died in Brussels on 16 December 1973, was an architect based in Brussels. In 1914 he designed a house for himself on Boulevard Brand Whitlock in Woluwe-Saint-Lambert. In 1923 he designed an Art Deco house at 69 Avenue de l'Armée in Etterbeek. Between 1920 and 1937, with Abbot Lamy, he created an Art Deco ensemble at the Norbertine abbey of Tongerlo: his designs include the extension of the church choir after the 1929 fire, whose ambulatory was left unfinished, and the high altar with ciborium (1930-1935), decorated with mosaics by C. Counhaye. In 1935 he built the swimming-pool pavilion of the Francqui estate in Woluwe-Saint-Pierre, of Art Deco inspiration.
