Commissioned by the Roubaix textile industrialist Paul Cavrois from the Franco-Belgian architect Robert Mallet-Stevens, the villa was designed from 1929 and inaugurated in 1932. A true "modern château", it is a total work of art in which architecture, furniture and gardens were conceived together. Belonging more to the Modern Movement than to ornamental Art Deco, it shares with it its era, its taste for geometric luxury and its precious materials. Listed as a historic monument since 12 December 1990 and restored by the State, it is open to the public under the Centre des monuments nationaux.
