Villa Art déco, Grote Herreweg 44 — Ruien (Kluisbergen)

A villa built in 1938 by André Reyntjens, of the mill opposite (no. 29), to designs by H. Cuvelier (Ronse), whose building plans survive. Its yellow-brick façades contrast with cemented sections under overhanging tiled roofs; the asymmetrical composition centres on a round-arched glass-and-iron door with a yellow leaded-glass tympanum, set in a strongly accentuated yellow-brick surround and approached by steps flanked by concrete planters. To the left projects the polygonal salon, to the right an adjoining garage retains the joinery of its door, and the carefully finished interior pays particular attention to the staircase.
