Maison Art déco, Nieuwstraat 8 — Menen

Double-fronted house of 1935 that relates to Art Deco through its geometric vocabulary. Its brick cornice façade is enlivened by the contrast of white-painted lintels and surrounds, by the rectangular bay window and by the balcony with a rounded corner and an openwork brick parapet; the door bay is emphasised by a small two-sided oriel and by a porch whose fanlight sits in a stepped surround. The cornice is crowned by a bluestone sculpture; the joinery has been renewed and the green glass replaced by clear glass, except in the porch fanlight. It is recorded in the Flemish architectural heritage inventory.
