An Art Deco town house, listed in 1988, one of Antoine Courtens's two most significant works in Brussels along with the Palais de la Folle Chanson, which he was designing in the same year (1928). Commissioned by Robert Haerens, an engineer of the Empain Group, and his wife the sculptor Luisa Robelus, it contains two separate dwellings with separate entrances; the main apartment, on the avenue Brugmann side, is organised around a central circular reception hall topped by a dome. The finishing is highly refined: marbles, wrought ironwork designed by the architect, hammered wrought-iron entrance doors. Courtens had trained under Horta.
