This town hall and justice of the peace court was built in 1937 and inaugurated a year later; its square tower marks the corner of the avenue and the square. Tinged, according to the inventory, with a regionalist, Art Deco and modernist spirit, it was designed by the architect Georges Dubuisson and built by the contractors Leturcq and Hautecoeur. Its facades of yellow brick with recessed joints, supplied by the Cerabric company of Hautrage, are enlivened by projections and patterns of bricks laid on edge inspired by the architecture of the Amsterdam School; the windows are round-arched, predominantly horizontal or set in rectangular limestone-edged surrounds. The window frames and the interior have been renovated; only the main porticoed entrance and the hall of honour retain their original tiling, joinery and stained glass. It is recorded in the Walloon heritage inventory.
