Ferdinand De Ruddere

Ferdinand De Ruddere, born in Aalst on 2 June 1891 and died in Dendermonde, studied architecture at the Saint-Luc institute in Ghent. City architect of Dendermonde from 1922 to 1950, he took part in the reconstruction of the town, largely destroyed in 1914. He also taught architecture at the town's academy, whose new Art Deco building, inaugurated in 1926, he designed. In the same year he built, with the Ghent architect Jean-Norbert Cloquet, the new Art Deco Saint-Blaise hospital. In 1935 he designed an Art Deco-inspired town house in Dendermonde for the Barroo-Schmitz family.
