Albert Callewaert
Albert Callewaert, born in Roubaix in 1888 and died in 1957, was an architect active in Brussels between the wars. In November 1921, on the proposal of Joseph Marien, he was appointed to enlarge the stadium of Royale Union Saint-Gilloise in Forest. His design, adopted on 10 October 1922, was carried out in 1926 by the contractor René Gillion; it is today's Joseph Marien stadium, listed in 2010. In 1929 he designed an apartment building on Avenue de l'Armée in Etterbeek, whose façade in white Savonnières stone follows the curve of the street. In 1932 he built a town house on Avenue Besme in Forest for René Gillion, whose façade bears the inscription "ALBERT CALLEWAERT / ARCH. 1932".
