This villa, built around 1935 by the architect Jules Ervyn for Charles Talpe, was, according to the sources, renovated after damage in the Second World War. Beneath a thatched hipped roof with deep overhangs, it reflects the spirit of Nordic-influenced seaside villas while drawing on the vocabulary of Belgian modernism, Art Deco and the Streamline (‘ocean liner’) style: yellow brick with recessed joints, horizontal openings with metal frames underlined by built-in planters, curved glazing and portholes. Most of the joinery is original, including the front door by the art metalworker Vittorio Aghito. The architecturally structured garden, enclosed by low yellow-brick walls and Art Deco-style railings, retains a small pavilion in the same spirit.
