The "Shiphotel" was built in 1933 to a design by the Assebroek architect Willy Lambert, with a clear Art Deco influence. This shows in the chamfered upper corners of the windows, the stylised palmette crowning the central pier and the combination of brick and simili for the decoration. The ground floor, with a tripartite front, retains its "black polished granite" facing mentioned in the building application, and the joinery of the upper floors survives. The building is recorded in the Flemish architectural heritage inventory.
