Standing like an isolated beacon in the middle of a block, this Art Deco war memorial was erected around 1935 by the contractor Tricourt. Its limestone base, emphasised at the corners by projecting masses, is decorated with bronze bas-reliefs made by the Minne foundry workshops. The lantern-like superstructure is clad in reconstituted stone panels and framed by powerful statuary signed by the sculptor C. Jacobs.
