Destroyed in the bombardments of 1918, Béthune's town hall was rebuilt between 1924 and 1929 to plans by Jacques Alleman. It was inaugurated on 7 April 1929. Its vertical architecture, imposed by the narrowness of the plot, belongs to Art Deco. The whole building has been listed as a historic monument since 4 October 2001.
