Built in connection with the development of the station district, the Church of the Sacred Heart was erected in 1931 to plans by the Binche architect Georges Pire and consecrated in 1932. Laid out on a Latin-cross plan, it is built of Hun-Annevoie sandstone rubble and limestone, with a tower preceded by a porch topped by a statue of the Sacred Heart. Its Art Deco character lies notably in the geometric treatment of the openings, mostly trapezoidal and set off by limestone lintels that play against the colour of the sandstone. The stained glass, woodwork, boundary wall and original railings are well preserved.
