Group of 72 workers' houses built by the De Mechelse Goedkope Woning company as part of slum clearance, to plans by the Mechelen architect Augustus Van Haesendonck; the permit application was approved in 1928 and the estate, built in a single phase, was completed in 1930. The brick houses, two bays wide (three at the corners) and two storeys high under pitched roofs, stand out for their stylised geometric rendered ornaments with an Art Deco touch on the upper floor and their white-rendered lintels. Several houses have been demolished and replaced, and on others the façade ornament has been removed or repainted in another colour. The group is included in the architectural heritage inventory.
