This cinema was built in 1927-1928 by the architect Louis Quételart on the site of the café-bar-restaurant, an annexe of the Hôtel Normandy designed by Auguste Bluysen, which had been ravaged by fire; of Bluysen's work, Quételart kept the half-timbered building at the back of the courtyard. The building is signed and dated on the façade: "Quételart/architecte 1928/Pentier frères entr.". Built of rendered concrete and roofed with flat tiles, it is marked by a tall bevelled pillar bearing the vertical inscription CINEMA, formerly NORMANDY. The ground floor housed a bar extended by a dance hall, and the upper floor a cinema with 314 seats in the stalls, supplemented under the roof by boxes and balconies. The French heritage inventory describes the building as being in the Art Deco style; it has since been altered.
